Cllr Andy Mitchell elected Deputy Mayor of Shifnal

UKIP town councillor, Andy Mitchell, was unanimously elected Deputy Mayor of Shifnal at a meeting of Shifnal Town Council on Thursday evening.

A new mayor and deputy were selected following the resignation of Mark Mountford who is facing further legal action over a counterfeiting conviction.

Cllr Mitchell was recently elected as chair of the Shifnal Leisure, Health & Education Steering Group and sits on the council’s Employment Committee, the Magistrates Court Working Group and the Town Plan Steering Group. He was elected onto Shifnal Town Council in this year’s local elections.

Shifnal, Albrighton and Cosford are part of the Telford & Wrekin branch of UKIP as they are in the Wrekin parliamentary constituency. UKIP has two councillors on Shifnal Town Council – Cllr Andy Mitchell and Cllr Richard Choudhary.
