I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of Public who brought this problem to my attention and turned out this morning to air their concerns over the number of quad bikes and scramblers speeding around the estate and play areas.
It was good that not only am I prepared to do something but the Chair of Lawley Parish Council, Jayne Greenaway is prepared to help and use her contacts within the Council, who have already been in touch with me this afternoon!
After my meeting with the Police yesterday it was great that they lent their ear this morning by providing a couple of officers. They have said that they will ask for more patrols and make a co-ordinated effort to tackle the problem. The Police are taking this problem very seriously and are looking to fine the culprits and confiscate their bikes.
I have already been in touch with Telford and Wrekin Council with a view to getting a CCTV camera fitted in the area. This will only be a temporary measure, if we can get it but it should make a difference over the summer months.
If I can ask all the concerned residents to take as many photographs and video’s that you can, as long as it is safe to do so and email the photo’s to me at: firstname.lastname@example.org or put them on a memory stick and take them into the Lawley Parish Council Office and Sharon, the Parish Clerk, will pass them to Jayne and myself.
We will investigate the unused piece of land along Birchfield way and are open to suggestions as what this can be used for. Small allotments or flower gardens were two of the suggestions.
By working together, hopefully we can improve the situation, if not resolve it.
