UKIP Telford & Wrekin parish councillor for Hollinswood & Randlay, Ray Knight, made his 75th blood donation this week and will receive his platinum award in the new year.
Ray first started donating blood in the 60’s when a mobile transfusion service visited his employer in Coventry and a colleague suggested he join him. Moving around and work commitments have meant that it’s taken some time to get to the 75 donations but he’s now aiming for 100 donations.
A fit and healthy man can usually donate 4 times a year but any illness – even a cold – will mean having to rearrange for a later date. Ray donates at Meeting Point House next to the now-demolished Town Centre library but there are a number of places in and around Telford you can donate. You can find a place to donate via the NHS Blood & Transplant Service website.
