Path leading to nowhere
This path, which starts on Audley Avenue estate, runs in front and alongside the now empty Focus store at Newport across the A41, and then turns towards Mere Park Garden Centre where it continues for about 50 metres and then ends at a hedge.
The cost of constructing such a path must be a five-figure sum and no one is going to use it as there are no bus stops there.
While this money is being spent on the path to nowhere residential roads around the borough requiring potholes to be filled are left to get bigger and what are our elected representatives doing about it – absolutely nothing. It’s simply because many years ago the then Labour council , in its wisdom, decided to delegate responsibility in most departments to council officers.
These officers whose prime function within the council is to provide reports and information for our elected representatives to make a decision, are now making decisions for which they have no mandate from the electors.
