Dawley High Street

Dawley High Street has featured heavily in the regeneration of Dawley but the changes made to the High Street, whilst well-intentioned, were poorly thought out and even more poorly implemented.

Opening the High Street to traffic was a great idea for stimulating the local economy but the High Street has been made dangerous for pedestrians by speeding motorists, inappropriate parking and even driving the wrong way up the one-way street.  We would introduce traffic calming measures in Dawley High Street to slow down traffic, place bollards along the pavement to prevent vehicles parking dangerously in pedestrianised areas and install rising bollards at both ends of the street to enforce the one-way system and provide an easy way of preventing access to the street for street markets or community events.
